Does Mercedes Have Electric Cars?

As electric cars become more common on the roads, many companies are making the switch from traditional gas-powered vehicles. Mercedes-Benz is one of these companies, with plans to release only electric vehicles by 2030. Below are some vehicles it currently offers that you can find at Mercedes-Benz of Fairfield, and some concepts for the future.

The 2022 Mercedes Electric Car Lineup

Mercedes-Benz has two fully electric vehicles in its current collection of luxury vehicles, with several concept vehicles being tested for their 2023 lineup. Its current, available vehicles are the EQS 450+ Sedan and the EQS 580 4MATIC® Sedan. Joining the road in the future are four vehicles to support their goal of being fully electric in select markets by 2030. These vehicles are the Concept Mercedes-Maybach Coupe, the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 Cabriolet, the Mercedes-AMG® ONE, and the F 015 Luxury in Motion, which are all currently being tested for performance and road safety by Mercedes and its affiliates.

Features of Mercedes Electric Cars

Mercedes electric cars come outfitted with technology to make your driving experience easier and more luxurious. These technologies include face, fingerprint, and voice recognition, and habit adaptation. These features combine the joys of high-tech computers with the simplicity of luxury cars. The EQS 450+ Sedan and the EQS 580 4MATIC® Sedan come in three trims:

  • Standard Premium: This trim comes with features such as three-dimensional surround sound and ventilated seating.
  • Exclusive: This trim includes the features of Standard Premium and adds massaging front seats, four climate zones for the interior of the vehicle, and a head-up display.
  • Pinnacle: This trim comes with the features of the previous two and adds a large host of features, including wireless charging for compatible mobile devices and ventilated power seats for the rear of the car.

Mercedes has not yet announced the features of the upcoming 2023 models.

Specifications of the Released Models

Below are specifications for each of the released electric vehicles:

EQS 450+ Sedan

The EQS 450+ Sedan has a permanently excited synchronous motor, so it has synchronized the shaft of the motor with the current it receives. This allows this model’s engine to have a 329 horsepower engine which can deliver 417 pound-feet of torque. This engine also allows the vehicle to go from zero to 60 miles per hour in 5.9 seconds. Its drivetrain is a single-speed automatic transmission with rear-wheel drive. The electric driving range of the vehicle on a full charge is 350 miles. Finally, the vehicle has an adaptive, self-leveling four-wheel  multi-link suspension, giving passengers a smooth ride.

EQS 580 4MATIC® Sedan

The EQS 580 4MATIC® has a dual permanently excited synchronous motor, increasing its horsepower to 516 and its torque to 631 pound-feet, which is significantly higher than the 450+. This engine allows the 580 4MATIC® to go from zero to 60 miles per hour in 4.1 seconds. Mercedes hasn’t yet released the electric driving range of the vehicle. The 580 4MATIC® has a single-speed automatic transmission with four-wheel drive. Finally, the vehicle has an adaptive, self-leveling four-wheel multi-link suspension and a rack-and-pinion 10-degree rear axle steering mechanism, aided with electromechanical power for easier steering at various road speeds.

Specifications of Concept Vehicles

Below are descriptions of the upcoming Mercedes electric concept vehicles:

Vision Mercedes-Maybach Coupe

The Mercedes-Maybach Coupe is a fully electric vehicle with a 550-kilowatt motor giving the vehicle output 738 horsepower. It can go from zero to 62 miles per hour in just under four seconds and has an estimated range of over 200 miles per single charge. You can charge your vehicle with conventional wall outlets, public charging stations, and electromagnetic fields, which are wireless. The interior of the vehicle allows you and your passengers to interact with the digital  touch screen strips throughout the vehicle. Finally, Mercedes shaped the seats of the Coupe to be comfortable for you and your passengers.

Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 Cabriolet

The Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 Cabriolet is a fully electric vehicle with four small electric motors totaling 550 kilowatts of power. Combined, these motors give the Cabriolet a total horsepower of 750 and a maximum driving range of 200 miles. Besides its engines, the Cabriolet comes with interior technologies such as a voice-activated concierge, biometric sensors that record your health and state-of-mind, twin fiber optic displays reporting the vehicle’s condition, and a white leather interior designed for the comfort of you and your passengers. Finally, your vehicle comes with a custom-made fabric top for luxury and easy removal.

Mercedes-AMG® ONE

The Mercedes-AMG® ONE combines the qualities of Formula 1 racing with the comforts of a road-ready vehicle. It’s a hybrid car with a 1.6 liter, V6 engine, which is turbocharged with electricity. This vehicle’s hybrid engine outputs an impressive 1,000 horsepower. Drivers can use an eight-speed manual transmission for the ultimate control of the vehicle. The interior of the vehicle features a Formula 1 style steering wheel with an LED shift display and controls, two 10-inch display monitors to track the overall performance and well-being of the car, and an ignition button for easy startup.

F 015 Luxury in Motion

At the groundbreaking edge of technology, the F 015 Luxury in Motion is an electric vehicle designed to be fully autonomous or driven by you. The exterior of the vehicle features carbon fiber, high-density plastic, and steel to support the safety of you and your passengers, and an inflatable collision system to lessen the impact of collisions. The interior of the vehicle features six display screens to offer 360 degrees of viewing, four rotating lounge chairs, saloon-style doors that open out to 90 degrees, and an open-pore walnut wood floor to drive in luxury.
