Magical Holiday Moments

A stunning tribute to California’s Disneyland, Magical Holiday Moments is truly a display to remember. What began as a simple static light display has since expanded to become a richly themed experience worthy of a Disney Imagineer. The lights are animated via computer to dance to music broadcast on the 88.3 FM radio station. But these aren’t just any holiday tunes. They’re iconic holiday songs from Disney theme parks. Visitors often park, tune in, and take in the wonder for a while before moving on.

This is certainly a labor of love, as it can take up to eight hours to program the display to dance to just one minute of music. The creators start preparing for the annual December show as early as February, taking just a few weeks off from this ongoing project.

In 2013, the display was converted to pixel LED bulbs which were fully controllable down to the hue and brightness of each bulb. Thanks to this incredible degree of control and customizability, the display can often continue through other holidays with a different color scheme, like pastel hues for Easter, red, white, and blue for the Fourth of July, and orange, purple, and green for Halloween.

The Christmas Magical Holiday Moments display takes place nightly from Thanksgiving to New Year’s Eve. You can stop by and see the lights between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. nightly.

Fairfield Lights Winter Wonderland

The Fairfield Lights Winter Wonderland show began in 2008 as a personal project for one festive family. Though the display was clunky and riddled with errors in its early years, it’s since become a breathtaking experience that viewers look forward to seeing every year. This home display features a full LED matrix that offers a complete range of colors and powerful controllability for a fully customized show.

The holiday show cycles through 15 minutes of randomized songs. Viewers can listen to the music by tuning in to 104.9 FM in their vehicles or by getting out and pressing the speaker button in the yard. If you choose to view the display on foot, you’re highly encouraged to dance. The holiday show runs from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. throughout the month of December.

The Fairfield Lights Winter Wonderland experience has become so popular that the home has since added a Halloween show as well. If you can stop by in October, you’ll catch a “spooky-not-scary” display that features spiderwebs, tombstones, and bones amid ample fog and a chilling black light.

VnA’s Gingy House

VnA’s Gingy House is such a stunning holiday feature that it will be featured on an episode of ABC®’s The Great Christmas Light Fight, slated to air in December 2022. VnA stands for Vince and Aaron, the creative minds behind this oversized gingerbread house. The idea for the Gingy House was inspired by a set of blow-mold candles that Aaron inherited. This single accessory soon spun off into a life-sized gingerbread house display for the holidays, transforming Vince and Aaron’s entire home into a wonderland that looks good enough to eat using primarily recycled materials.

The house was originally constructed from cardboard but soon evolved to utilize corrugated plastic sheets for greater durability. In recent years, it’s taken as many as 20 family members to put together all the pieces of the display over the course of two months. The experience engages all the senses with fluffy cotton candy you can touch and the distinct smell of peppermint in the air.

The Gingy House is the primary fundraiser for VnA Creatives, Inc., a non-profit that brings creative art projects to the Suisun City community. The Gingy House first debuted in 2018 and has continued faithfully every year since. The display is so popular that it’s even spawned spinoffs for other holidays, including a Halloween display and an Easter setup for VnA’s Hop 4 Hope.

The holiday Gingy House is comprised of 10,000 lights, music, and special effects. You can see the stunning effect of it all put together at 6 p.m. nightly from Dec. 3 to Jan. 2.

Candy Cane Lane and Lollipop Lane

The residents of Arlene Drive and Shady Glen Avenue go above and beyond over the holiday months, transforming their neighborhoods into Candy Cane Lane and Lollipop Lane. Driving through the area, you’ll find house after house decked out in stunning holiday displays for the event. You can view everything from nativity scenes to blow-up minions in an over-the-top attraction that pays homage to all things merry and bright.

You can experience these streets by car or on foot. If you choose to walk through the neighborhood, you can park on Fruitvale Road and take the short walking trail to Arlene Drive. Many homes have hot chocolate stands or candy canes to give out, adding to the cheerful atmosphere. The lights typically go up the weekend after Thanksgiving and remain through Christmas.
